Working in sculpture and installation in the field of social practice, Rob’s visual arts practice draws on strategies to investigate cultural phenomena and collaged temporalities.
As a community arts producer, Rob has frequently collaborated with youth, indigenous, refugee, migrant and disability groups. In 2004 he was awarded the Vodafone World of Difference award to produce four cross-media works with communities in North West Tasmania, Alice Springs, Southern Sydney and Melbourne. In 2006 Rob won the Community Broadcast Association of Australia Award for Best Television Program for No Limits, a disability entertainment program. In 2008 he produced four HDV short films for Melbourne’s Youth Disability Advocacy Service exploring adolescence and disability that have been widely shown in Australia and around the world.
From 2007 to 2009 Rob developed a substantial youth arts program for the Centre for Multicultural Youth to engage refugee and migrant young people in artistic practice. Projects involved partnerships with the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Chunky Move Dance Company, the Malthouse Theatre, Immigration Museum, St. Martin’s Youth Arts, Platform Youth Theatre and Federation Square, Melbourne.
