We are being Surrounded
For 'We are being Surrounded' I presented an extended version of Short. Back. Sides.; a creative engagement project centred around the restorative gesture of offering free lawn mowing to strangers.
A restorative experiment, this three-year project explores the growing social dysfunction in contemporary suburbia that values autonomy and isolation over neighbourliness and generosity.
Within the gallery space my installation constructed a portrait of a suburbia gone to seed. Meanwhile, lawn mowing actions undertaken outside the gallery appear to offset the scenario.
