In this group show, I worked with peer artists and Alison Lasek (curator) to interpret cultural phenomena on university campus.
I was interested in the ‘Boat Race’ drinking game and its precarious existence within the University context.
Research involved engaging in faculty 'O-week' rituals (during the first week of the academic year) and observing communication protocols on campus.
For the exhibition I produced an installation of objects belonging to drinking traditions, along with a proposition for a relational event (a boat race in the gallery) that (George Paton Gallery's staff decided) would exist solely in its potentiality.
Editions of 100 Event Procedures to minimise risks for the proposed event were available during the exhibition.
