As part of Causal Relations/Current 12 Program at Footscary Arts Centre.
Curated by Robert Mangion.
Using a lawn mower as a platform for social engagement, I offered my rudimentary mowing skills to strangers as a rehabilitating experiment and photographed the garden before and after I cut it.
For Causal Relations, I exhibited ‘before and after mowing’ shots in light boxes illuminated by hydroponic grow lights. At the same time as illuminating the photographs, the light spilled on to a small circular lawn, and a hand cast Victa lawnmower (circa 1980), triggering the grass to grow rapidly over the six-week exhibition.
